The Urban Economy Forum is a Toronto-based initiative that focuses on urban economics and municipal finance. Together with UN-Habitat and International City Leaders (ICL), they are collaborating to promote innovative approaches to urban governance and management. The aim is to assist city leaders to establish prosperous urban futures that are economically, socially, politically and environmentally viable. The Urban Economy Forum in collaboration with UN-Habitat is organizing the Second Urban Economy Forum (UEF) which will be held virtually on 5 October 2020, 2:00 PM – 6 October 2020, 11:00 PM (CEST) in conjunction with World Habitat Day and in celebration of the 75th anniversary of United Nations.

UEF 2020 aims to work alongside local authorities and international organizations to contribute to the SDG 11 which is one of 17 United Nation Sustainable Development Goals focused on creating sustainable and resilient cities and communities. UEF aims to advance SDG 11 through identifying and implementing sustainable urban economy in municipalities in the world.

UEF 2020 also aims to create a collaborative platform for mayors with the intent of creating a “Global Community of Mayors and Urban Leaders”, for sustainable urbanism. UEF 2020 encourages local authorities to participate in this global endeavour and share their ideas. This is a great opportunity to not only learn about the challenges and opportunities for urban centers, but also to be an active voice in advancing this conversation globally.

The event will host over 200 speakers from across the world, including Silvia Ganzerla, Policy Director of EUROCITIES, as a keynote speaker.
