UK city councils to meet face to face to workshop smart city challenges and solutions

UK cities are getting around the table this 23 January do develop solutions to the challenges faced in bringing innovative smart city technology to their citizens. The format of this day long scale up meeting will see city council members joining each other in conversation, presenting challenges around which groups can coalesce, facilitating opportunities to unearth relevant best practices for the transformation of city services.

The core topics will include planning, health and social care, accessibility and transport in the UK. Real world needs relating to these issues will be teased out throughout the day, alongside related questions on relevant data and business models.

Participants will hear from cities engaged in a diverse range of smart city solutions, from autonomous vehicles to wifi lamp posts. Want to get your city up to speed? Hear about how these solutions were organised, funded and implemented in a UK context.

The event, organised by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the Future Cities Catapult (FCC), will include with a panel chaired by Greenwich, in which the audience will have a chance to quiz presenters on the challenges which have been discussed.
