Within the framework of our new EUROCITIES initiative 'Inclusive Cities for All: Social Rights in My City', 21 cities have adopted pledges showing how they act to translate the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights into actions to improve people's lives.

Lille Metropole is the 17th city to sign a pledge to the European Pillar of Social Rights. The President of Lille Metropole, Damien Castelain, signed a pledge to provide active support to employment (principle 4), ensure equal opportunities (principle 3) and promote secure and adaptable employment (principle 5).

Malmo became the 18th city to sign a pledge to the European Pillar of Social Rights. The Mayor of Malmo Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh signed a strong commitment to ensure equal opportunities (principle 3) and provide active support to employment (principle 4).

Glasgow is the 16th city to sign a pledge to the European Pillar of Social Rights. The pledge was signed by the City Council with a strong commitment from Deputy Leader Councillor David McDonald to principle 19 on housing and assistance for the homeless.

New EUROCITIES report: Cities delivering social rights

EUROCITIES published a new report mapping cities’ existing policy measures that are in line with the principles of the EU Pillar of Social Rights. Many cities already deliver inclusive social policies to promote social rights for all people even before the EU Social Pillar was adopted. However, we found that cities’ efforts are not always known or recognised at national and EU levels.
