Helsinki among the winners of the European Broadband Awards 2017

European Broadband Awards 2017 winners were announced at the Award Ceremony on 20 November. The Helsinki Optical Fibre Cooperative project was awarded by the European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Crețu and Commissioner for Agriculture & Rural Development, Phil Hogan for the category ‘openness and competition’.

ROCKs living lab in Eindhoven

The tech savvy city of Eindhoven hosted the second work-shadowing visit of ROCK, which focused on the living lab approach to urban innovation, mastered by the city. The three ROCK replicator cities Bologna, Lisbon and Skopje got inspired by this method of trial and error and got concrete recommendations and tips on how to transfer Eindhoven's good practices to their local context.

EUROCITIES at Barcelona Smart City Expo

Under the theme ‘Empower cities, empower people’, Barcelona Smart City Expo 2017 (14-16 November) will gather exhibitors, speakers and visitors around eight areas that make a city a ‘smart’ city: governance, mobility, safety, economy, sustainability, circular economy, society and data & technology. Highlights from the Knowledge Society Forum in Uppsala, Autumn 2017

EUROCITIES Knowledge Society Forum met on 16-18 October in the Swedish city of Uppsala to discuss and share experiences on smart city governance models: leadership, partnership, and scalability to create the cities of the future. The forum attracted over 50 participants from 30 cities and organisations. Members had a chance to learn from each other, and to exchange innovative, collaborative and participatory approaches, initiatives and practices from Uppsala and other member cities.
