Together with the European Parliament's intergroups on urban issues and
long-term investment and reindustrialisation, EUROCITIES, CEMR and POLIS hosted
an event on 8 March on 'long-term investments: barriers and opportunities for
regional and local authorities'.
What are the challenges faced by the regional, local authorities as well as the private sectors regarding long-term investments? How can the EU help to overcome them?
This event, which took place in Brussels on 8 March, addressed these questions and included presentations on key issues, followed by a debate featuring EU institutions, city politicians and financial experts on the current Eurostat rules and their impact on regional and local public investments in several sectors such as transport, energy efficiency and waste management.
Participants tried to better understand what is at stake and explore possible avenues to transform current barriers into future opportunities for region and cities.
We are currenlty collecting evidence on existsing issues in cities. If any cities would like to contribute, please contact Anja De Cunto.
