CITIES-GroW

start date
01-02-2017
end date
31-01-2019

The CITIES-GroW (integration of migrants through economic activity in cities) project will provide practical advice to municipal leaders and decision makers in Europe on how best to address migrant integration challenges and develop effective integration strategies.

The project will last 24 months starting on 1 February 2017. A successor of the ImpleMentoring project, CITIES-GroW will be coordinated by EUROCITIES with the support of Migration Policy Group, Migration Work-CIC, and Migration Policy Institute, and will involve 16 European cities: Athens, Barcelona, Birmingham, Brighton and Hove, Dresden, Gdansk, Ghent, Helsinki, Lisbon, Munich, Nantes, Nicosia, Riga, Rotterdam, Tampere, and Utrecht. Participating cities are paired up (mentors/implementers) to ensure transferability of results and long-term policy and practice impact. The mentoring schemes will aim to: match buyers and suppliers by facilitating access to public and private contracts for immigrant entrepreneurs; engage with businesses, local job agencies and local educational institutions to promote job skills match for employment of youth with migrant background; provide services to help migrant entrepreneurs; and implement anti-discrimination strategies on local job markets.
