Children and young people

  • cooperation

This working group is dedicated to raise awareness and improve strategies for child and youth friendly cities.

The new cross-forum working group will focus on all aspects connected to a good quality of life your young people, starting from cultural engagement to health and well-being and social inclusion of children and young people. The working group will work across all EUROCITIES forums.
For 2020, the working group will look at 3 key objectives which include:
• Mitigating the effects of child poverty
• Reducing the amount of ‘looked-after children’ in our cities (children in public care)
• Improving social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of children and young people
Through events and other activities, the working group will facilitate cities exchanging knowledge, sharing best practices and mapping city initiatives which look to tackle these objectives. The participating cities will also focus on how they can align the local policies to key EU policies such as the Youth Guarantee, Child Guarantee and European Pillar of Social Rights.
The first meeting of the working group will take place in Leeds, on 19-20 March and it will focus on ‘’mitigating the effects of child poverty’
