Register now for the next online meeting of the WG Roma inclusion on 14-16 October. This meeting will focus on ‘Cities driving Roma inclusion in Europe: learning from Berlin’.
Following the cancellation of all physical meetings until the end of 2020, we have been very busy creating a new concept for a digital policy transfer. To accommodate this new format, we have re-structured the programme into 3 morning sessions focusing on learning from Berlin’s strategic approach to Roma inclusion as will as the role of cities in the EU Roma framework post 2020.
Morning 1 - Berlin’s model
After many years of implementing an action plan for the inclusion of migrant Roma, Berlin organised a thorough evaluation of their activities. The results are now being included in a renewed framework programme. During the meeting, we will learn more about the process that lead to the creation and renewal of Berlin’s strategic approach. We will discover 3 local good practices and exchange with the organisations in charge of their implementation. Curious about Berlin’s approach? Read out more here and join us during the meeting.
Morning 2 - We are looking for cities inspired by Berlin to continue driving Roma inclusion
This online meeting will apply the methodology of a policy transfer. We are therefore looking for cities willing to learn from Berlin and take actions to continue implementing the EU Roma framework. After identifying the key success factors in Berlin’s approach, a session will be dedicated to co-designing innovative solutions to your city challenges on Roma inclusion. You are interested in presenting your city’s challenge? Your city is committed to work on concrete actions of innovative solutions for the inclusion of Roma people? Become a transfer city by applying through the form attached below and sending it to solene.molard@eurocities.eu by 2 October.
Morning 3 – Cities role in the EU Roma framework post 2020
Just a few days before our meeting, the European Commission will launch it’s renewed Roma framework post 2020, entitled EU strategic framework for equality, inclusion and participation. To celebrate the launch and the dedication of cities in making Roma inclusion a reality, we are organising a high-level political debate on the role of cities in the new EU strategic framework. Besides representatives of cities, we are inviting Commissioner Helena Dalli as well as the European Roma Grassroots Organisations network to give us their perspectives on this renewed framework and the upcoming steps for its implementation.
